Water coming through a ceiling does not wait for Monday morning. MK Heating is the emergency plumber East London households and businesses call when a problem cannot wait: burst pipes, running water you cannot stop, or a boiler that dies in freezing weather. Emergency call-outs run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on 07950 619 002.
What counts as a plumbing emergency
A burst pipe or a leak you cannot isolate, where water is running and causing damage. No heating or hot water in winter, especially with young children, elderly relatives or anyone unwell at home. An overflowing toilet, a drain backing up into the property, or a boiler leaking from the casing.
The rough rule: if water is going somewhere it should not be, or the house is going cold in a cold snap, treat it as an emergency. A dripping tap or a slow-draining sink can usually wait for a booked visit, and we will tell you honestly if yours can.
If you smell gas, do this first
A gas leak is a different kind of emergency. Call the National Grid emergency line on 0800 111 999 straight away and leave the property. Do not operate light switches or anything electrical, and keep flames and cigarettes well away.
Once the gas emergency has been made safe, we can carry out any repair work your system needs, from the boiler to the pipework around it.
What happens when you call
Describe what you can see and we will talk you through the immediate steps: where your stopcock is, what to switch off, and how to protect belongings from the water. Then we get an engineer on the way.
On arrival, the engineer makes the situation safe first, then finds the cause and quotes in writing for the permanent repair before carrying it out. Stopping a leak and fixing its cause are not always the same job, and we will explain the difference if yours is one of them.
Stop the damage while you wait
Turn the water off at the stopcock; in most homes it is under the kitchen sink. Open the cold taps to drain what is left in the pipes. If water is near electrics, switch off the power at the consumer unit without standing in the water. If the leak is from the boiler, switch the boiler off and turn its water supply off if you can see an isolation valve. Move rugs, boxes and anything that soaks up water out of the way.
Our pages on burst pipes andleak detection explain both jobs in more detail.
24/7 cover across East London
Nights, weekends and bank holidays included. We cover 22 neighbourhoods across East London, from Limehouse to Homerton, and because our engineers are Gas Safe registered, a plumbing emergency and a boiler breakdown go to the same number. If the urgent problem turns out to be a faulty boiler, our boiler repair page explains what a repair visit involves.
Frequently asked questions
Are you really available 24/7?
Yes. Emergency call-outs run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. Call 07950 619 002 at any hour, day or night.
What should I do about a burst pipe before you arrive?
Turn the water off at the stopcock, open the cold taps to drain what is left in the pipes, and switch off the electrics at the consumer unit if water is anywhere near sockets or cables. Then call us on 07950 619 002.
Is a gas leak something you deal with?
If you smell gas, call the National Grid emergency line on 0800 111 999 first and leave the property. They deal with the gas emergency. Once it is safe, we can carry out any repair work your system needs.
How much does an emergency call-out cost?
It depends on what we find and what the repair needs. We quote in writing before any repair work starts, so you know the cost before you agree. We do not publish emergency prices because the honest answer varies with the job.
What counts as a real emergency?
Water escaping somewhere it can cause damage, no heating or hot water in cold weather, or a leak you cannot isolate. A dripping tap or a blocked sink can usually wait for a normal booking, and we will say so.
Can you repair boilers in an emergency?
Yes. Our engineers are Gas Safe registered, so emergency boiler repair is part of the same 24/7 service. Some faults need parts ordered in, and if that happens we make the boiler safe, explain the plan and the cost, and get the part as quickly as suppliers allow.
