A new boiler is a big purchase, and most people only make it once or twice in the life of a home. MK Heating installs and replaces boilers across East London, from a like-for-like combi swap to a full system change. You get honest advice on the type and brand that suit the property, a written quote before work starts, and Gas Safe registered engineers on every job.
Repair or replace? How we help you decide
If a repair costing a few hundred pounds buys several quiet years, replacing the boiler is a waste of money, and we will say so. Replacement earns its keep when the boiler is well past ten years old, needs repeated repairs, or has a failed part that is expensive because it has been discontinued.
New condensing boilers also burn less gas than the models they replace, which shows up on the bill over time. Bring us the fault history and we will give you a straight comparison of repair against replacement, then leave the decision with you. If a repair is the better option, ourboiler repair page explains how those visits work.
Combi, system and regular boilers in plain words
A combi boiler heats your radiators and your hot water on demand, straight from the mains. There is no cylinder and no tanks in the loft, which is why it suits flats and houses short on storage. Most East London homes already have one.
A system boiler does the heating, while a cylinder in the airing cupboard stores hot water. It is the better choice when several people want showers at much the same time, because the cylinder holds a ready supply.
A regular boiler, sometimes called heat only, works with a cylinder and feed tanks, and is common in older properties whose pipework was built that way.
You do not have to keep the type you have. Changing types is common, but it alters the pipework and can add a day or so to the job, so we check the property and quote the full picture before you commit.
What happens on installation day
We protect the floors, drain the system and take the old boiler out. The new boiler goes in, the system gets cleaned out as far as it needs, and then the engineer commissions it: gas rate checked, combustion readings set, pressures confirmed and safety devices tested.
Before we leave, we show you how the controls work and set them up with you. A straightforward swap usually fits inside a day. Conversions, such as moving from a regular boiler to a combi, take longer because of the extra pipework, and the quote will say so in advance.
If you are upgrading controls at the same time, asmart thermostat is easiest to fit while the system is already drained.
Warranties and our workmanship guarantee
New boilers come with a manufacturer warranty, and where the manufacturer offers registration, we register the warranty for you so it is actually in place if you ever need it. The conditions are simple: keep to an annual service and keep the paperwork.
On top of the manufacturer's cover, our own workmanship is guaranteed for six months. If something we have fitted is not right, call us and we come back to sort it.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a new boiler cost?
It depends on the boiler, the brand and how much pipework changes. We look at the property first, then give you a written quote with the full breakdown before anything is ordered. No one can give an honest fixed price for a boiler they have not seen the installation for.
How long does a boiler installation take?
A like-for-like combi swap is usually a day. If we are changing the boiler type, moving the boiler, or fitting a cylinder, it takes longer, and the quote will tell you exactly what to expect.
Which boiler brands do you install?
We install the major brands and regularly fit Vaillant, Worcester Bosch, Baxi and Glow-worm. Each has strengths, and we will talk you through the options that suit your system and budget.
Can you move my boiler to a different position?
Yes, in most cases. Moving a boiler means new flue runs and pipework, and the new position has to meet flue and ventilation rules. We check the practicality and the cost before you commit.
Do you take the old boiler away?
Yes. Clearing away the old boiler and any debris from the job is part of the installation.
What happens if something goes wrong afterwards?
Our workmanship is guaranteed for six months. Call 07950 619 002, describe the problem, and we will come back and put it right. The manufacturer warranty covers the boiler itself, and we register it for you where the manufacturer offers it.
We fit boilers across 22 East London neighbourhoods, from Canary Wharf to Shoreditch: see the areas we cover, or call 07950 619 002 for a quote.
