A tap dripping every couple of seconds fills a washing-up bowl in a day and leaves a limescale crust that will not scrub off. The cause is nearly always a worn washer, cartridge or O-ring, which is a repair rather than a replacement. We fix taps and mixers in kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, fit new ones where the old have had their day, and check the shut-offs under the sink while we are there.

Why taps drip and go stiff
Older taps with washers drip when the washer or its seat wears. Modern mixers use ceramic cartridges, which hold up well until grit or scale scores the discs, and then the tap drips with the handle off as well as on. A stiff handle usually means the cartridge is failing; a spout that weeps at its base means worn O-rings; and water under the sink points at connections or flexible hoses rather than the tap itself. Each has its own fix, and none require a new kitchen.
Repair or replace?
A good tap is worth a new cartridge, and quality brands keep spares available for years. Budget taps are often cheaper to replace than to repair, especially once awkward access under a sink is counted. If you have already bought a replacement, tell us the model when you book so we know what fittings to bring; if you would rather we chose, we will suggest something that suits the existing holes and your water pressure. Either way you see a written quote before work starts.
Mixers and pressure
Mono mixers blend hot and cold at the spout, and they behave differently depending on what feeds them. Where one side comes from the mains and the other from a loft tank, a mixer can struggle, splutter or favour one side; there are ways around it, from different tap types to pressure balancing. If the real complaint is that the flow is feeble rather than drippy, that is a pressure conversation, and we can check the supply as part of the same visit.
